Benefits of Pilates include improved core strength, posture, muscle strength, flexibility, joint mobility, lung capacity, coordination, body awareness and balance. Regular Pilates exercise can help to relieve stress and tension and through the muscular support can reduce back pain during pregnancy.
Pelvic floor toning and abdominal support exercises will help to accommodate the changes that your body goes through during pregnancy and it will make it easier to regain strength after giving birth.
Pilates is a safe form of exercise to do during pregnancy, however, if you have not done Pilates before becoming pregnant, we recommend that you wait until after your 12-week scan before starting with classes.
