The Music Box: Kodály music classes for children aged 2-4 with their carers. Start your child’s music education here! New class starts Monday 9 January 2017.
Through singing games and rhymes, children unconsciously learn the fundamental building blocks of music: pulse, pitch and rhythm. Active music-making builds confidence, co-ordination, listening and communication skills. And it's fun! Puppets, props and instruments bring the singing games to life and help children to experience musical concepts through movement.
Classes are based on the Kodály approach to music education and led by a qualified Kodály practitioner. Key elements of this approach are that “music belongs to everyone”, that the best way to learn music is through singing, that music education should start as early as possible, and that teaching should be sequential and based on the developmental abilities of the child.
Classes run on Mondays in term time in the small meeting room at Sacred Heart church hall – NB plenty of parking!
