Junior Napier is a new Saturday morning music school in the heart of Edinburgh. Held in the modern purpose-built facilities of Edinburgh Napier University’s music department, the school strives to provide the highest quality of music education to students of musical promise. Lessons are delivered by a mix of professional performers, lecturers, and senior students, and will deliver a rounded musical education to prepare the students for a future of professional music making. Students will receive three lessons during their weekly visit to the school, being: a lesson on their principal instrument/ voice/composition; a group ensemble/improvisation lesson; and a class on general music skills. Group classes will be streamed by ability to ensure consistent progress is maintained, and a series of short exams at the end of the year will provide positive indicators of the student’s progress. The general music skills class will cover theory, aural and musical analysis skills, preparing the students not just for the official ABRSM theory exams and high school qualifications, but also for a future musical career.
