This is a very family friendly activity. Magnifying glasses and small nets are on hand for children to scoop up whatever insects they can find.
An expert will be on hand to identify what they find and talk to them about the insects.
Insect safari are great for kids. Entomologist, Dan Hacket, leads the walk for about 2 hours, but pitches to even the very youngest kids, and they can all have a go at beating the foliage and then looking at the insects that turn up. They always manage to find an obscure insect, sometimes not recorded before.
To date over 900 invertebrate species, 338 moth species, 353 fungi species, 70 bird species and seven bat species have been recorded in the woods.
