Book VERY early to avoid disappointment.
Bat watch groups are limited to 25 people, and need to be booked well in advance, due to popularity.
Evening groups meet in the woods, by the information hut, and wander into the woods with a guide, looking and listening for bats.
Bat detectors are given out – a hand held radio that can pick up bat signals when they are getting their food or talking to each other.
“The bat watches are fun for kids,” says a spokesperson for the woods. “Just book, and turn up by the info hut just before we close the wood, and then we go for about an hour walk looking to see and hear bats in flight feeding on insects.”
