The majority of the reviews in Mumsnet Reviews are posted by Mumsnetters who have bought a product and felt moved to add a spontaneous review.
If anyone suspects that a review or reviewer is bogus we would always urge them to report the review to us and we will look into it.
In certain cases companies with new-to-market products ask Mumsnet to recruit Mumsnetters to test their product. Mumsnet are paid a fee for recruiting the Mumsnetters and the Mumsnetters receive the product free of charge. In all cases the fact that the Mumsnetter has been given the product (rather than purchasing it) is made clear in the review.
In addition Mumsnet reviewers are told the RRP for the product and asked to imagine they have spent that amount of money on the product and review accordingly. They are told to imagine they are writing a review for their best friend, so it needs to be 100% honest, true and unbiased.
Given our extensive experience of product testing with Mumsnetters we trust them to adhere completely to the guidelines above.
