DS Caspar. I liked Bay and almost everyone said 'God, no'. Bertie is a possibilty and was received positively (I care what you think!). I used to like Felix but gone off it. Caspar is such a good name (imho) I need something to live up to it!

diddl · 24/05/2010 14:56

I like Rufus, Rory & Felix.
Jethro?

Gosh, I'm supposed to be working but keep checking this now. Even emailed DH to say 'Mumsnet say no to Berie and yes to Rufus'. He's like 'right' .

Hedwig3 · 24/05/2010 14:29

Caspar and Rufus sound great!

120 · 24/05/2010 13:56

Rory is such a lovely name!

Then again, I really like the name Varden but it is very unusual

How about Zachary?

dizzydixies · 24/05/2010 13:54

Rufus was on our list too and I gave birth to neither a red head or a red setter BRILLIANT name

much prefer Roan to Rory. How about Rhuri?

I like lots of these, forgot to say Jaybird, very good
Rory is one of my favourite names but DH not keen. I do like Gabriel but maybe not enough...? We both like Rufus and it is on our list. Can you be called this and not be a Red Setter though? Or at least not have red hair?

mopsyflopsy · 24/05/2010 13:44

Caspar and

Xavier
Quentin
Maxim
Felix

would all work well imo.

luciemule · 24/05/2010 13:42

Caspar and Jude
Caspar and Gabriel
Caspar and Oren
Caspar and Barnaby (DS' name so bit biased)
Caspar and Rory
Caspar and Jacob
Caspar and Milo

dizzydixies · 24/05/2010 13:42

I like Soren too

Gideon is a Hebrew name meaning "great warrior".

dizzydixies · 24/05/2010 13:38

am pretty sure its Hebrew/Biblical

Roan is what DD2 would have been had she been blue - Irish/Celtic for little red one

Pasiphae · 24/05/2010 13:37

Caspar and
Rupert? Dexter? Guy? Fergus? Magnus? Ferdinand? Alistair? Archibald? Anselm? Edgar? Demetri? Ludovic? Tybalt? Leonard? Rudyard? Roderick? Orson? Isidore? Auxence?

BafanaBafana · 24/05/2010 13:35

Gideon is biblical - Old Testament. I know two (a child and an adult) and they are both Jewish.

Caspar is a great name. How about:

Hugo
Micah
Jude
Osian
Gabriel
Raeph / Ralph
Louis
Gregor
Dashiell
Simeon

...or something more traditional - Daniel, Oliver, Benjamin, Alexander, Jacob or Samuel?

ohh, you are right about Bertie being weak and Caspar needing something strong to go with it - good point Headwig and annasophia. So glad you like Bay Dizzy, so glad! Seems we are quite alone though. Love Sebastian but have beloved cat of that name (named when I was pregnant, which there was no excuse for. Stupid stupid). Also like Gideon (what are its origins anyone?) and Roan/Rowan. Raphael brilliant but not brave enough I don't think!

dizzydixies · 24/05/2010 11:57

I love Bay!

love

Hugo
Reuben
Hector
Roan
Gideon
Cassius/Cassian
Corin
Noah
Raphael
Jude
Kit

annasophia · 24/05/2010 11:44

I think a 2 syllable, strong name works best

Quentin
Victor
Vincent
Patrick

I don't like Bertie/Albie/Archie type names, think they sound very 'weak' and babyish.

sapell3 · 24/05/2010 11:41

Edmund
Gregory
Orlando
Theodore
Xavier
Rufus
Ezra
Milo
Reuben

Hedwig3 · 24/05/2010 11:05

I think you need a fairly strong name to go with Caspar, which rules out things like Bertie in my mind.

Max/Maxwell
Sebastian
Henry
Arthur

Jaybird37 · 22/05/2010 22:29

Balthazar or Melchior?
