Collier?

As in Coal Miner? I think they will be in for a rough ride at school.

I thought of Border Collie

No…. I used to work for colliers international

My entire family for generations were colliers. They occasionally died buried under ground or slowly suffocated from the coal dust.

No I don't think it's a great name for a baby.

No. Sounds like a disease.

I like it as a surname but it's a bit too much of an occupation surname. cf Butcher, Farmer

🤣

Mining

Maybe call him Nicholas and use Cole as a nn. Safer. Also delightfully Dynasty-ish

It's the name of a job, not a person.

My first thought was boarder collie 😂 sorry op

This IS a joke, right?

A type of cheese in aldi

How about:
Nurse
Porter
Judge
Baker
Thatcher
Tanner
Gardener
Cook...

Big no from me- it's a job not a boys name!

It would be like calling your kid farmer, secretary or teacher.

What did you Collier child?

How about Shearer?

Politely op, No.

NOPE

I'm from a coal mining family and it was (still is in some places) a bloody tough and dangerous job. My grandad had an awful accident. I'm proud of my miner relatives' work ethic but not sure why this is a job you'd particularly want to use as a name. What is it that draws you to it?

Also grew up in a coal mining community and all I can say is... eh???

I don’t think it’s usable as a first name, for all the reasons already given

Me you..

Hey, come on, dogs aren't lodgers.

Sadly so did I!

Its not for me OP

My first though was Norman, no idea how I remembered him though.
