Modern with a GSOH

"This is our first Christmas in a home we own, made even more special by having a baby. I'm in charge of the decorations. I have a black tree, white lights and varying silver decorations. As an in-joke, I'm buying my other half a burger tree ornament. Hoping to start a tradition of buying one each year."

Old school and cosy

"We decorate our home with traditional decorations, including garlands, lanterns and a real pine tree. Our colour scheme is usually red and gold. Warm winter throws and cushions make the home feel cosy and warm."

Au naturel

"We tend to go for traditional Christmas colours of gold and red. I drape green garlands with pine cones, berries and cinnamon sticks over the piano and fireplace and finish it off with some fairy lights."

Retro and vintage

"This year I've come across so many gorgeous vintagey decorations that I couldn't help myself and changed my theme. I've got hessian bunting up with matching stockings and vintage-style everything else! I'm so excited to get it all up."

Suitably Scandi

"We've always had a red and white Scandi theme. Over the past couple of years, we've added a few more natural pieces into the mix, wooden and hessian decorations and ornaments which seems to work."

Ice Queen

"We do a sort of Tiffany's blue and silver and driftwood-y type thing. We live on the coast. We always decorate on the first weekend in December - I love it."

Of course, sometimes the best laid plans...

"Our decoration scheme is 'tacky flashing lights'. Thanks, DH."
