  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 240g granulated sugar

  • 120g butter

  • 60g plain flour

  • 120g chocolate at least 51% cocoa

  • 1 pinch salt optional but helps

  • 2 eggs beaten

  1. Preheat oven to 180C/Gas Mark 4.
  2. Break chocolate into pieces and melt in a bowl over saucepan filled with simmering water. Add cocoa powder and butter.
  3. Stir mixture occasionally. When melted, remove from heat and add to other ingredients. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Pour into lined square tin (20cm by 20cm) and bake in centre of oven for 30 minutes. The brownies will be ready when the mixture has sunk down. They should still be gooey.
  5. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.

Handy Hint

Double the recipe to make twice as many as they will be gone in a flash - they are so yummy! Can also add additional ingredients easily such as a handful of nuts, marshmallows, choc chips and so for extra yummy-ness.

I am not sure this recipe would have worked tbh so I fiddled around with the ingredients. I added 100g flour and not 60g and more choc was melted. I mixed brown and white sugar but only 180g and cooked it for 25mins. Added walnuts and plain choc drops. Delish.

This recipe is so quick easy and great for the children to get involved. There aren't many ingredients so not too much of a kitchen invader!
