  • 350g pork mince

  • 350g lean minced beef

  • 2-4 cloves garlic (depending on size)

  • A pinch fresh oregano

  • 2 onions chopped as finely as possible

  1. Finely chop onions and garlic, put the fresh meat into a large mixing bowl and add the onions, garlic, salt, pepper and fresh herbs and give it a really good mix using hands rather than a spoon to incorporate all the dry ingredients.
  2. Lightly grease a 2lb loaf tin and add the meat mixture packing it fairly tightly. Cover the top with a small amount of foil (not wrapping it up completely) and place in the oven at 180C/Gas Mark 5. Leave to cook for 45 minutes and then remove the foil from the top of the loaf tin and cook for a further 20 minutes.
  3. Remove from the oven and allow 5 minutes to rest. Turn out and slice, serve with creamy mash and peas…delicious!

Handy Hint

You can omit the garlic if not liked and also use dried herbs instead of fresh.

We as a family really enjoy this recipe, one of the kids favourites with mash and thick gravy.
