  • 1 onion finely chopped

  • 500g lean beef mince

  • 1 eggs

  • 2 tbsp porridge oats to taste

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  1. Microwave the chopped onion for 2 minutes or until the eye-watering raw onion smell disappears (this stops the onion giving you godawful indigestion/heartburn later).
  2. Leave it to cool slightly, then mix it through the mince with the egg, worcester sauce and mustard.
  3. Grind in a good dash of pepper and as much salt as you're happy to eat.
  4. Give it a good stir with a fork, then add in the porridge oats. If it's a bit solid use less oats, if a bit runny keep adding more.
  5. Divide into six (or more if you want to do kiddie sized portions) and squish each portion into a flat patty between your hands.
  6. Put on a plate and cover with clingfilm, then chill for a little while in the fridge. Cook under the grill or in a frying pan and serve with potato wedges or on a bun with melted cheese.

Handy Hint

Wet your hands before making the patties - the mixture will be less likely to stick
Ridiculously easy, but very tasty
