  • 2 tbsp cheese grated

  • 8fl oz water

  • 2 tbsp red lentils

  • 1 carrot peeled and diced

  • 1 small onion chopped finely


  1. Put lentils, carrot, and onion in saucepan with the water and bring to the boil.
  2. Cover the pan and simmer for around 25 minutes (until lentils turn mushy).
  3. Stir in the grated cheese and either puree or mash.

    Great recipe. Good as it is, and can also be mixed with mashed potato to make it a compete, nutritious meal that to a fussy three year old, looks just like cheesy mash! Win! I've even thinned it with milk and used as a sauce for "cheesy pasta". Can't go wrong.

    Thank you. 9 month old baby enjoyed it 3 times in a row - record for new food. And agree with other parents, v easy and inexpensive to make.

    My baby loves this. Quick, cheap and easy to make. Have cooked a batch again today and freezes well.

    Made this with green lentils the other day - DS loves it. Going to whip up a batch today with red lentils. Very very easy, even I couldn't mess it up!
