Slow Cooker Chicken and Sausage Gumbo

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/3 bowls vegetable oil

  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • 1/2 bowls green pepper

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 4 cloves minced garlic

  • 1/3 bowls water

  • 1/3 bowls all-purpose flour

  • 3/4g smoked sausage ring

  • 2 bowls baby okra

  • 1 bowl Large onion chopped finely

  • 1x1/2 bowls chicken breast, cubed

  • 1/2 bowls Chopped celery


  1. Take a saucepan and heat vegetable oil in it. Sprinkle the flour on it until it forms a paste on medium-high flame.
  2. Keep whisking for about 15 minutes until the flour turns into a dark reddish brown roux. Then set it aside to cool.
  3. Pour water into a slow cooker and stir the roux, chicken, sausage, onion, okra, celery, bell pepper, salt, pepper, garlic and cayenne pepper.
  4. Cover the cooker and slow cook for 6 to 7 hours while skimming the fat with a spoon.
  5. Serve hot with sauces.
