  • 3 tbsp golden syrup

  • 225g golden caster sugar

  • 225g butter/margarine

  • 275g rolled oats


  1. Put the margarine (or butter), sugar and syrup into a medium saucepan and heat gently until the margarine has melted and sugar dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the rolled oats.
  2. Turn the mixture into 2 x 20 cm (8 in) sandwich tins (which are greased) an press down firmly with the back of a spoon to level the surface. Pre-heat the oven to 160c/325f/Gas mark 3.
  3. Bake for about 29-31 minutes. Remember to take care not to over or underbake them so that there not soggy or hard as a rock.
  4. When there done take out and leave to cool for 5 minutes and then taste the delicious taste!
