  • 1 pinch ground cumin

  • 1 pinch dried basil

  • 2 handfuls brussel sprouts

  • 1 pinch coriander

  • 2 slices bacon (or pancetta)

  • 1 handful green lettuce shredded

  1. Cut the sprouts in half and boil for a few minutes.
  2. While you're doing that warm oil in a large pan.
  3. Using scissors rough chop the bacon into the pan and sizzle.
  4. Add finely shredded cabbage (uncooked - it's nice crispy) to pan and more oil if required or I just add a splash of water to speed the cooking up and keep things moving.
  5. Quick cook at heat adding herbs/spices of choice (I've just put the ones I'm obsessed with at the minute)
  6. Add the part-boiled brussels and stir fry.

Handy Hint

Cook as long as you like - i only do a few minutes with the bacon and cabbage then add the brussels and stir fry for a couple of minutes longer to get the flavours mixed before serving.

Really simple and probably everybody already does a version of this but something lovely about brussels, cabbage and bacon together and it makes a nice side dish with lots of flavour and it's a way to get the brussel sprouts into christmas dinner in a tastier way.
