Simple sausage and bean casserole

  • 1 onion sliced

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 clove garlic crushed

  • 2 tbsp fresh rosemary chopped

  • 1 tin plum tomatoes

  • 8 sausages

  • 1 handful kidney beans

  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

  • 1 splash Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 sprigs thyme


  1. Heat the oil in a pan and saute the sausages until browned.
  2. Remove and add to casserole pot.
  3. Sauté sliced onion until softned slightly and add crushed garlic.
  4. Add tinned tomatoes, kidney beans, Worcester sauce, herbs and black pepper.
  5. Bring to simmer and stir ensuring that you scrape the browning from base of pan.
  6. Transfer this to the casserole dish and slow cooker (I left mine on 'Auto' all day).
