Mince pies

  • 180g caster sugar

  • 100ml milk (for brushing)

  • 90g sugar

  • 200g cream cheese

  • 1 orange

  • 360g margarine

  • 450g plain flour

  • 1 jar sweet mincemeat


  1. Sieve the flour then rub into the margarine.
  2. Mix through the caster sugar, and zest the orange into the bowl.
  3. Juice the orange, then slowly stir the juice through the mixture.
  4. Put the mix in the fridge for an hour.
  5. Meanwhile, mix together the 90g of sugar into the cream cheese.
  6. Remove from fridge, then roll and cut into mince pie rounds.
  7. Put a teaspoon of sweet mincemeat mixture onto each round, then top with 1/2 tsp of cream cheese and sugar mix.
  8. Put the lid on top of the mince pie, and brush with milk.
  9. Cook at 220C for 10 minutes or until crisp.

    I made these last year and there are so delicious. The pastry ingredients and the topping will give your pies a wonderful flavour. Enjoy!
