Pork and kiwifruit kebabs

  • 1 tsp olive oil

  • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar

  • 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper

  • 1 red onion peeled and chunky cut

  • 1 red pepper chunky cut

  • 2 tsp soy sauce

  • 225g lean pork chunky cut

  • 1 large kiwifruit peeled and chunky cut

  • 1 pinch chilli flakes (optional)


  1. Marinade the pepper, pork, kiwi and onion chunks in the soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and olive oil seasoned with pepper and chilli flakes, if using.
  2. Set aside for up to 30 minutes.
  3. Thread the ingredients on 4 skewers.
  4. Heat the grill to a moderate setting, place the skewers underneath and cook for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  5. Alternatively cook directly over a barbecue for 10 minutes.

Handy Hint

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water beforehand to avoid burning under the grill

    Easy, colourful, quick-cook recipe with lots of great flavours. Natural enzymes in the kiwifruit act as a tenderiser meaning that the pork will be very succulent. Children love to pick out their own selection of vegetables to go onto the skewers. You could include button mushrooms in the mix. Ideal as a quick supper or as a barbecue dish
