  • 130g self-raising flour

  • 80g caster sugar

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 7 glace cherries

  • 3 tbsp porridge oats

  • 100g butter softened

  • 0.5 free range egg beaten

  1. Mix the flour and salt.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar. Add the beaten egg. Then stir in the flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Divide the dough into 12 to 14 pieces.
  4. Roll each piece into a ball and toss in oats. Place in baking trays about 3cm apart.
  5. Decorate each melting moment with 1/2 a glace cherry.
  6. Bake at 180C/Gas Mark 4 for 15 minutes until straw brown in colour.
  7. Transfer onto a cooling rack.

Handy Hint

Make sure that the melting moments are well apart on the baking because the biscuits will spread during baking.

Very easy to make, and my 4yo DS enjoyed helping me at every step. Bit annoying only using half a beaten egg but I didn't have enough ingredients to double the recipe. I didn't have any glacé cherries and I also added a sort of vanilla essence but I don't know if it made a difference so will leave out next time (yes the will definitely be a next time!).
