  • 1 tbsp milk

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 100g sugar

  • 1 tbsp golden syrup

  • 188g (approx) flour

  • 125g butter


  1. Put the butter, sugar, golden syrup and milk in a saucepan.
  2. Heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is nearly boiling, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool to lukewarm.
  4. Sift the flour and baking soda together.
  5. Add to the cooled mixture.
  6. Stir well.
  7. Roll tablespoons of the mixture into balls and place on ungreased oven trays.
  8. Flatten with a fork.
  9. Bake at 180C for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
