  • 200g cream cheese (choose low fat if preferred)

  • 1 tin tuna (in oil)

  • 150g butter

  • 3 tsp lemon juice


  1. Drain tuna as much as possible.
  2. Place in bowl with all the other ingredients, and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Whisk together until everything has blended.
  4. By mashing with a fork instead of whisk, you will get a coarser pate.

Handy Hint

Tuna in oil will be slightly more moist than tuna in brine. Spreadable butter will not bind the mix as well as normal butter. It will make a smooth paté ideal for sandwiches or crackers and keeps in fridge for 4 to 5 days.

    I used a small tin of tuna for this recipe

    Extremely easy. Used this many times over the years. You can also use tinned salmon.
