  • 175g self-raising flour

  • 75g caster sugar

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 1 tsp almond essence

  • 50g ground almonds

  • 150g margarine

  • 1 handful blanched almonds


  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas Mark 4. Grease two baking trays.
  2. Mix together the dry ingredients, rub in the margarine.
  3. Add the essence and mix well, bring together using your hands.
  4. Roll out thinly and cut into rounds. Place half a blanched almond on each.
  5. Place on a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes.
