  • 40ml double cream

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric

  • 1 bulb ginger 1" piece, finely chopped

  • 1 green chilli finely chopped

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • 3 tbsp gram flour

  • 300g paneer cheese (cottage cheese available in all major supermarkets or an asian grocers)

  • 1/2 tsp red chilli


  1. Cut the paneer into one inch cubes and set aside.
  2. To make the marinade, in a bowl add the double cream along with the gram flour and mix until there are no lumps.
  3. To this mix add cumin seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, ginger and the green chilli.
  4. Mix until all the ingredients have come together, then finally add the oil.
  5. Add paneer to the marinade, and set aside in the refrigerator.
  6. Pre-heat the oven to 200 C. Place the paneer on a roasting tray for 10-12 minutes until they are golden brown.

Handy Hint

Serve the cubes with a dash of mint chutney and some lime juice.
For the chutney; in a blender add a handful of coriander, same amount of mint, one green chilli, salt to taste and juice of a lemon.
