  • 115g butter

  • 115g marshmallow (you can get vegetarian ones without gelatine online)

  • 300g chocolate

  • 115g toffee

  • 150g Rice Krispies

  1. Put the marshmallows, toffee and butter in a heavy pan and heat gently, stirring frequently, until it all melts together.
  2. Take off the heat and start adding rice crispies until you can't get in any more without them not being completely coated in toffee mixture.
  3. Pack into traybake or swiss roll tins (lined with greaseproof paper) to a depth of 2-3cm (an inch).
  4. When cold, melt the chocolate and spread over the top, then once that is solid, cut the whole lot into squares and store in a cake tin.

Handy Hint

Make some for adults - use serious chocolate! Or add glace cherry pieces/ nuts for a difference.

can this work with caramel or fudge instead of toffee? and cornflakes instead of rice crispies?

Oh yum! Just made a batch to cut up into small squares and dip in the chocolate fondue my 11 year old requested for his birthday tea. Super yum!

Spent years making these for folk then abandoned them when I decided to avoid gelatine. But you can get veggie marshmallows so I am happy again!
