  • 1 onion chopped

  • 1 splash milk

  • 1 handful cheese grated

  • 1 large ham steak cubed

  • 1 tin cream of mushroom soup (or use cream of chicken, or cream of celery condensed soup)

  • 6 potatoes (about 3 per person)

  • 1 handful mushrooms sliced

  1. Slice potatoes and layer in lightly greased oven dish
  2. Top with mixture of cubed ham, mushrooms and chopped onions
  3. Mix the can of soup in with equal amount of milk and pour over first layer - enough to nearly cover
  4. Keep repeating until it's layered up to the top, using all the soup/milk mix. Season with black pepper as you go along too.
  5. Finish with some grated cheese on top and bake in hot oven.

Handy Hint

You can really use any type of 'cream of' condensed soup you have handy. It's also good to mix cheese sauce through the mix too if you have time

I think I must have done it wrong. It's been in the oven for 40 mins and the top is burnt! Was I supposed to grease the potatoes first? They are curly and are turning black

you can make it vegetarian by leaving out the ham, obviously. use low fat versions of the soups to keep calories down! Really easy and you can prepare it in about 10 minutes.
