Ingredients

  • 230g self-raising flour

  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda

  • 230g sugar white or brown

  • 1 tbsp golden syrup (be generous!)

  • 230g porridge oats

  • 230g margarine or butter, or soya spread

  • 1 tbsp hot water

Method

  1. Mix the flour, sugar and oats in a big bowl.
  2. Melt the margarine (or butter) in a pan with the syrup and hot water. Add the bicarbonate of soda and and stir in, then pour into the dry ingredients and mix well.
  3. Make balls of the mixture (I use roughly a dessertspoonful) and place on a greased baking tray, and flatten just a little with a fork.
  4. Bake at 180C for 15 minutes and cool on the tray before lifting off.

Handy Hint

Take them out when they're pale golden - brown is overcooked

    Lovely oaty biscuits. Simple and tasty. Really easy to make - even with a 2 year olds help! Gone in seconds.
