  • 1 block chocolate milk or dark

  • 50g flaked almonds

  • 1 candied peel

  • 1 handful candied peel

  • 1 handful mixed dried fruit soaked in rum

  1. Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie.
  2. Remove from the hob before it melts completely, stir, and it will carry on softening.
  3. Add any combination of nuts and fruit. Stir well and pour into cases or mould.
  4. Refrigerate to set

Handy Hint

You could make this in one slab if you liked, but pouring it into those tiny foil/paper truffle cups (like small fairy cake cases) makes them look very special.

we have made these at least every 6 weeks and change the ingredients depending on our mood! Current favourite is almonds and raisins, our very own fruit and nut!!! So easy to make as well! My personal favourite is adding dried cherries for my very own version of a well known premium brand!

We made these for my dad at christmas, dd's decorated a box for them and he loved them. We are going to make some more next week for his birthday.

Adapt this for childrens' tastes and they can pretty much do the whole thing, with supervision. They will enjoy choosing things to add to the chocolate and all the stirring.
