  • 140g sugar

  • 1 cinnamon

  • 3 slices bread thin and buttered (more if needed)

  • 900g cooking apple

  • 1 tbsp water


  1. Grease a two-pint souffle dish and line with finely cut bread and butter
  2. Peel and core apples.
  3. Slice thinly and put a layer of apples, light sprinkle of cinnamon, then sugar, then bread and butter repeating the process until the dish is full.
  4. Finish with a layer of bread & butter.
  5. Cover with greased paper. Cook for 30-45 mins.

Handy Hint

For diabetics & slimmers, change sugar for low calorie ie Splenda and use low fat butter

    This is an economical pudding especially when you have left over bread and there is a glut of apples, its a matter of taste but dessert apples could be used. This should turn out on to a dish successfully, but if not sure serve strai from dish in which it was cooked.
