Egg-fried cauliflower rice

  • 1 splash soy sauce

  • 1 eggs

  • 0.5 cauliflower grated or blitzed in a food processor until it resembles rice

  • 1 clove garlic

  • 1 pinch chinese five spice

  • 1 handful vegetables suitable for stir-frying, eg: broccoli, peppers, beansprouts


  1. Heat the butter and a splash of oil in a pan.
  2. Gently fry the garlic.
  3. Add cauliflower and other vegetables.
  4. Add 5-spice seasoning and stir-fry mixture for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add egg and stir quickly into cauliflower and vegetables until cooked.
  6. Season and add splash of soy sauce to taste.

Handy Hint

Easy-peasy and surprisingly delicious. This works great on its own but would also do as an accompaniment to other Chinese food. Swap the 5-spice and soy for curry powder for Indian food.
