  • 225g self-raising flour

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 85g caster sugar

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 110g dark chocolate milk chocolate or choc chips will also do

  • 1 eggs

  • 85g butter cold


  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas Mark 4.
  2. Line 1 or 2 ovensheets with baking parchment.
  3. Cut butter into cubes, add to flour and rub in until you have breadcrumb-like consistency.
  4. Cut chocolate into pieces and add to flour mixture.
  5. Add sugar and mix.
  6. Mix egg, milk and vanilla extract then add to flour mixture and combine to sticky dough.
  7. Place rough spoonfuls onto baking tray, bake in oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove onto wire rack to cool.
  8. Delicious eaten super-fresh while chocolate is still runny!

Handy Hint

If making with children I use choc chips as it's much easier. But big chunks of cut chocolate are yummy for grown ups!
