  • 255g caster sugar or soft brown sugar

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 2 eggs beaten

  • 110g margarine

  • 200g plain flour

  • 3 apples peeled and cut into wedges

  • 397g sweetened condensed milk

  1. Gently heat the margarine and the condensed milk together until the margarine has melted (but don't boil it).
2.While that's doing, beat the eggs and sugar together with a mixer. Stir in the margarine and condensed milk mix. Fold in the flour and baking powder.
  2. Grease a really big tin or 2 deepish tins (I've used a roasting tin before, or 2 brownie tins).
  3. Arrange the apple wedges in the bottom of the tin(s) and pour the mixture over.
  4. Cook at 200C for about 35 minutes.

Handy Hint

Do check before taking out the oven as it has a tendency to remain uncooked in the middle. Turn the temperature down a bit and leave in for 10-15 minutes more if necessary.
