  • 1 onion thinly sliced

  • 1 pinch flour seasoned with salt and pepper

  • 1.5lb beef

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 10 mushrooms sliced

  • 0.5 pints beef stock

  • 200g low-fat crème fraîche


  1. Melt half the butter and fry mushrooms and onions until browned.
  2. Remove from pan and put aside.
  3. Coat the thinly sliced beef in seasoned flour, melt the remaining butter and fry the beef until brown.
  4. Add the rest of the flour, beef stock, worcester sauce then the creme fraiche.
  5. Add the mushrooms and onions and simmer for 20 minutes.

Handy Hint

Buy the best quality beef you can afford, top rump is good.
