Pear and walnut crumble

  • 1 pinch cinnamon

  • 200g unsalted butter cut into cubes

  • 6 pear

  • 175g demerara sugar

  • 100g walnuts

  • 125g sultanas

  • 300g plain flour


  1. Peel and chop the pears and put in a pan with 3 tbsp of sugar and cover with boiling water. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  2. While the pears are cooking, chop the walnuts into small pieces.
  3. Put walnuts, butter, flour, sugar and a pinch of cinnamon into a bowl and rub together until you get a crumble texture.
  4. Remove pears from the heat and add the sultanas to the pan. Leave for 5-10 minutes for the sultanas to plump up.
  5. Drain the pears and sultanas and put into a crumble dish. Spoon crumble mixture on top and bake at 180C for 30-45 minutes.
