  • 1/4 pints milk

  • 2 large carrots grated

  • 400g beef mince

  • 1/2 pints gravy (to serve)

  • 1 tin beans

  • 1kg peeled potatoes

  • 2 small apples grated

  • 1 OXO cube

  1. Boil the potatoes until cooked, and drain.
  2. Meanwhile, fry off the mince in a wok or large saucepan. When it's browned, add the carrot, the apple, the OXO cube and the beans, and stir well.
  3. Leave the mixture to sit while you mash the potato with the milk.
  4. Transfer all into a deep casserole dish, with the mincey beans at the bottom and the mashed potato topping it.
  5. Bake in the oven for about 45 minutes, at about 180C

Handy Hint

When and how to freeze: You can either freeze it after you've put the mash on (before you've put it in the oven), or after baking. Either way, cover with a tight layer of clingfilm before freezing
How long will it last?: Up to three months
How do I cook it?: Either put it in the fridge overnight to defrost, then cook as normal, or cook straight from the freezer, adding 30-45 minutes to the cooking time

It looks like slop, but I have found, to my disgust, that my children ^like^ unidentifiable brown slop.
