  • 8 tbsp double cream

  • 250g prawns or shrimp, cooked and peeled

  • 840g white rice

  • 1 tbsp butter to fry

  • 1 parsely, chopped to serve

  • 2 banana chopped into small pieces

  • 1 onion roughly chopped


  1. Cook the rice, following the packet instructions.
  2. Gently fry the onion in butter until they are just starting to brown.
  3. Add the prawns or shrimps and the chopped bananas to the onions in the pan. Heat through gently.
  4. Add the cream and remove from the heat.
  5. Season well with salt and pepper and mix with the rice.
  6. Serve with a small handful of chopped parsley.

Handy Hint

Make sure prawn/shrimps are defrosted/cooked. Quantities can of course be adjusted to taste.

    Four generations of my family have eaten this gorgeous recipe which was found on the back of a Fyffes bananas packet.It used to be used for summer birthdays in shrimping season until prawns became cheaper. I wouldn't say it was budget but it isn't that pricey and is pretty simple.Older kids can chop bananas, help peel prawns/shrimps and help mixing. It.Is.Delicious......
