  • 1 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  • 300g noodles

  • 200ml beef stock

  • 1 bowl sour cream (to serve)

  • 1/2 tsp caraway seeds

  • 250g button mushrooms quartered

  • 1 tsp cornflour

  • 1 onions sliced into rings

  • 500g stewing steak diced

  • 1 cabbage (shredded, to serve)

  1. Mix together the paprika, cornflour and caraway seeds. Add the diced steak and stir until the meat is evenly coated.
  2. Transfer to a casserole dish and add the onion, mushroom and beef stock and put it in the oven for 30 minutes at 220C/Gas Mark 7.
  3. Stir, then turn down to a slow cook setting or Gas Mark 1. Leave for 2.5-3 hours or until you are ready to eat.
  4. Prepare the noodles and boil the cabbage right before you take it out of the oven.
  5. Serve with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of paprika on top, alongside the noodles and the cabbage.

Handy Hint

This is better the longer it is left, just check the stock levels and top up if needed.

I made this yesterday in my slow cooker, it was yummy ! I had to miss out the caraway seeds as DH cannot abide them, but it was lovely.... would definitely make it again, with more smoked paprika !
