  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar

  • 1/2 red onion

  • 1/2 red cabbage

  • 1 handful nuts


  1. Gently fry the onion until caramised
  2. Mix in the cabbage, red wine vinegar and nuts.
  3. Simmer on a low heat with the lid on the pan for 20 minutes, adding a drop of water to keep it moist as needed.
  4. Simmer with the lid off for 5 minutes to cook off any excess liquid, and serve.

    We have this as a side dish for Sunday Roasts or sausage and mash. You can vary the vineager to taste but it works well with the sweetness of the caramalised onion and cabbage.
