  • 1 onion sliced or diced

  • 1 tin tomato

  • 1 sausage

  • 250ml red wine (not any old plonk, you'll be able to taste the difference)

  • 1 clove garlic

  • 1 tin baked beans


  1. Brown the sausages (ideally in a frying pan so that you can conserve the juices).
  2. Fry off the onion and garlic in a saucepan.
  3. Add the beans, tomatoes and wine to the onions, then allow to simmer for 20+ minutes. Add the sausages and any juices (adds to the flavour)

Handy Hint

Serve with left over roast parsnips and sprouts as a Boxing Day meal. The rich sauce goes really well with the strong flavoured sprouts.
