  • 1 pinch black pepper (to taste)

  • 1/2 lime juiced

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 100g shirataki noodles drained and rinsed

  • 1/2 tsp chinese five spice

  • 75-100g pork cold leftover roast, skin removed

  • 1 splash light soy sauce (to taste)

  • 1 shallot chopped

  • 1 pinch chilli powder (to taste)

  1. Heat the sesame oil in a small frying pan, then add the shallot and the pork and fry together until softened and starting to brown.
  2. Season with black pepper, chilli powder and 1/2 teaspoon of Chinese five spice powder.
  3. Add the noodles to the pan and stir together.
Add a good glug of soy sauce, probably 2 tablespoons, but up to you and your taste.
  4. Add some water to the pan, to make it more soup-like, and bring it up to the boil. Add the lime juice, simmer for a minute, and then serve.

Handy Hint

You can buy these noodles online or at Japanese/Oriental supermarkets. They are definitely worth seeking out. As well as being great in this kind of cooking, they also make a very good substitute for spaghetti. It would be really nice if you had some ginger, garlic and/or fresh coriander to hand to add in.
