Cool Milk is delighted to be working with Mumsnet in their Family Friendly programme. As a company established for over 14 years, our role is to work closely with schools and parents to make it possible for children to enjoy school milk and benefit from all the positive health advantages and social opportunities it can offer.

As parents we sometimes struggle to get our children to eat foods that contain the vitamins and minerals they need for proper growth and development. A simple way to provide your children with a healthy dose of essential nutrients is to give them a glass of milk – or in the case of a growing child a minimum of three glasses! Listening to parents we know that in these busy times, it can be difficult to monitor our children's nutrition round the clock and that's why school milk is so important - you can rest assured that your children are getting the essential vitamins and minerals they need, even when you can't be with them.

Milk is a nutritionally complete food: in fact, no other drink in the world contains as many naturally occurring nutrients as you will find in one glass of milk. Milk has protein for growth, carbohydrates for energy, calcium for bone and tooth development, and vitamins A, B, C, and D to benefit vision, hair and skin, as well as contributing towards a healthy immune system. Following the latest Government guidelines we provide semi-skimmed milk to all schools taking part as it is low in saturated fats and has no artificial sugar. This makes milk a healthy alternative to the sugary drinks and juices that may contribute to childhood obesity.

We believe that school milk is one way to support families, and we are looking forward to hearing from Mumsnetters about what school milk means to them when we do our Family Friendly audit with the Mumsnet panel.


Looking after every school, nursery, pre-school, playgroup, childminder and academy when they return back in September takes a huge amount of experience, professionalism, knowledge and dedication and the team at Cool Milk have shown these qualities year after year
During the first two weeks of September Cool Milk,

  • Received over 21,000 incoming calls from parents wanting information on paying for their child's milk; schools with class list queries and delivery queries; nurseries wanting to amend orders and confirm their deliveries and dairies keen to get accurate deliveries out.
  • In addition Cool Milk made over 30,000 outbound calls to get these issues resolved
  • Answered over 16,000 emails.


Imagine the advanced computing technology and robust server and website systems required. Our results were outstanding :-

  • 99.3% of calls answered from 20,599 received
  • 99.01% of emails received by 16:00 answered the same day
  • 92.6% of deliveries received by 10am each day – not bad for the first two weeks!

You can only get this sort of quality and satisfaction from months of planning and lots of dedicated resource.  We believe it is worth every penny and every Gantt chart. This is where we earn our reputation. Back to School is a busy time for everyone and so we try and ensure that at least the milk delivery side of things goes as smoothly as possible.
