Cook up a treat with British Leeks and you could win a £500 John Lewis voucher

For a fantastic winter vegetable that tastes delicious and is great for your health, look no further than the humble British leek.

The British leek season runs from November through to April. While it's often harder to source locally grown, fresh vegetables during the colder months, the leek is one British green that can provide the cornerstone to uncomplicated, nourishing seasonal meals. Not only full of flavour, leeks are packed with vitamins and crucial antioxidants, essential to helping you stave off winter colds and flu.

To celebrate the launch of the 2015 season, the British Leek Grower's Association is inviting Mumsnetters to submit their favourite leek-based recipe for the chance to win a £500 John Lewis voucher.

The recipe needs to feed four people, should take no more than one hour to prepare and focus on the theme of informal indulgence - broadly speaking that means casual, uncomplicated, hearty dining.

Leading food blogger (and leek lover) Dominic Franks from Belleau Kitchen will be on hand to help judge the entries.
