Live Saturday morning kids' TV is back

Hacker T. Dog CBBC

Saturday mornings just got a whole lot more peaceful – CBBC is launching a new live, two-hour entertainment show.

The buckets of gunge are at the ready and the celebrity invites are being sent out as CBBC prepares to launch a live 'entertainment extravaganza' Saturday morning show.

Continuing the tradition of Going Live!, Saturday Superstore and Multi-Coloured Swap Shop, new show Live & Dangerous promises lots of celebrity guests, games – and gunge, of course.

Saturday Morning Live

So if you spent your Saturday mornings watching Smash Hits pin-ups share a set with weird glove puppets, all to the backing of a catchy telephone number jingle, it's time to let your kids experience this joy for themselves.

This time round, you might even get a lie-in, because slapdash humour and silly games have to be better at keeping the kids quiet than the current weekend line-up of celebrity chefs making yet another quinoa salad.

From autumn, the new Live & Dangerous show will be broadcast live from MediaCityUK – and while the presenters are yet to be announced, CBBC favourite Hacker T. Dog has confirmed he will be on hand each week. The return of Gordon the Gopher hasn't yet been confirmed – but there's still time.

Cheryl Taylor, CBBC controller, said: “The presentation team are the beating heart of CBBC and their expanded role on Saturday mornings to deliver a live extravaganza will cause great excitement for our audience.

“We have been using new technology to connect with six- to 12-year-olds for some time now, and I'm proud to be in a position to offer unique live participation opportunities that will make CBBC an even more special destination on Saturdays.”

Let the show begin – we're ready for a sleep-in.
