"Nothing to excite but just does what it needs to do without any shouting."

I've had an Altea XL for nearly five years. It is obviously bigger than the standard Altea - longer, taller with a very capacious boot. Mine is a 1900 diesel and trundles back a forth from work(35 mile round trip) very efficiently. It can easily break the speed limit. I love the excellent, all round visibility. I like the sit upright driving position and the space above my head. You can sit 5 adults in it with plenty of leg and head space. My teenage children and their friends have never complained. The back seats fold flat, turning it into a very convincing van for university and tip runs. It has 'nibby' Spanish touches like fold in wing mirrors and the windscreen wipers store away into the sides of the windscreen plus lots of cubby holes for putting 'useful things' in and then forgetting where you've put them. Bigger and cheaper than the Golf Plus, which I also looked at. It'll never make your heart sing, but it just goes on and on. I'm reluctant to say I've had no trouble from it, it seems like tempting fate, but with nearly 86,000 miles on the clock it's a reliable workhorse. Mine's grey too, so it doesn't stand out at all.
