Guest Campaigns: April 2018

Rosie the Riveter

Here at MNHQ, we think it makes sense to use the not-inconsiderable might of the Mumsnet collective for the greater good. That's why we regularly exchange links and public support with charities and pressure groups in areas Mumsnetters are interested in, such as special needs provision, child poverty, childcare, parenting, breastfeeding, maternity care and relationship support.

Dimbleby Cancer Care: #Dimbletea

Organise a #DimbleTea bake sale, afternoon tea or tea break and help Dimbleby Cancer Care support people living with cancer in the UK. This brand new campaign was launched in March 2018 and raised over £1,200 in the first month alone.

These vital funds go directly to support people facing cancer through an online directory putting people in touch with support services in their local area, through information and support centres at Guy’s Cancer Centre and Queen Mary’s in Sidcup, and through Dimbleby Cancer Care's national research fund.

Help us make a real difference to people living with cancer.

SWAN UK: Undiagnosed Children’s Day

Imagine if in the last 12 months you have had 73 blood tests, 52 nights in hospital, 49 outpatient appointments, 12 x-rays, 5 days in critical care, 4 blood transfusions, 3 anaesthetics and one major surgery. Despite all this, your condition is still undiagnosed.

Approximately 6,000 children are born in the UK each year with a syndrome without a name – a genetic condition so rare that is likely to remain undiagnosed.

Children often go to hospital for lots of medical procedures and tests and they miss out on doing fun things other children their age get to do. Undiagnosed children have to cope with more than most on a regular basis. Their bravery makes them superheroes.
