Author webchats and Q&As

Simon MayoSimon Mayo webchat

When Radio 2 presenter Simon Mayo dropped by for a webchat he tackled some burning Mumsnetter questions about his new children's book, Itch. Find out how it went from a short story for his 11-year-old son to a complete novel, which three accents he likes to read it in, and how Stephen King helped to inspire him. Read the whole webchat here.

While we had him in the Towers it seemed only right that we finagle him into reading an extract from Itch. Pull up a chair and enjoy!

Nick Sharrett Jacqueline Wilson

Marty and her sister Melissa couldn't be more different. Marty loves her Converse trainers, playing football, hiding in her secret den and helping her dad with his DIY. But Melissa loves Justin Bieber and all things pink, girly and pretty. In her brand new book, The Worst Thing About My Sister, Jacqueline Wilson brings into sharp focus the relationship these sisters have – argumentative and combative – but ultimately very loving.

Nick Sharratt is a very popular award children’s writer and illustrator who is best known for his iconic illustrations in all of Jacqueline Wilson’s books. His new picture book Socks will have you wriggling and giggling your socks off at bedtime as you read Elizabeth Lindsay’s bouncing rhythmic text aloud.

Win: Random House Publishers are offering one lucky winner the chance to win a signed copy of both fabulous books.
