About the book
The 'European Tour' is a magical story, personalised with the name of your child. All ZebraBooks are lovingly made and hand-finished and reflect the belief that nothing compares to a book made and read with love.
this European tour, your
child will be the heroine or hero of a great search across the continent for
the 26 letters of the alphabet. During their quest they will have to pick tulips in
the Netherlands, put Swiss cuckoo clocks back together, save a young stork in
Poland, learn the art of drinking tea with the Queen of England,
and so on. This enthralling tale will
not only encourage your child to learn to read, but will also help them discover
more about Europe while on a journey full of fun tasks and
Why the book is different ?
Environment : ZebraBooks books are all hand-made, using paper sourced from sustainable forests (a new tree is planted for every tree that is cut down). CO2 emissions from printing and transport are offset.
Funny: Adults will find the European Tour just as interesting as their children - there are plenty of hidden jokes just for older readers.
Clever: Extensive (and highly scientific) research went into ensuring that the little anecdotes about each country are all true.
stereotypes: The story features female football champions, lady truck drivers,
fisherwomen, and men who cook and take care of baby
storks. It provides plenty of opportunities to see that both girls
and boys can carry out any activity or profession they choose.
About the creators:
The European Tour was conceived and written by Marie Thibaut de Maisires, the founder of ZebraBooks, and an author and feminist radio presenter celebrated for her pranks. Marie is also a reserve officer in the Belgian navy and a fun-loving mother of three children.
The fabulous illustrations are the work of the talented Florence Weiser – a lover of caravans, a friend of animals, and a playful anti-conformist.
And finally, the man responsible for the witty English version of the "European Tour" is Felix Lowe, a freelance journalist and translator who covers anything from professional cycling to travel. His book, Climbs and Punishment: Riding to Rome in the Footsteps of Hannibal, is out now.
