About the author 

Julia DonaldsonJulia Donaldson is the outrageously talented, prize-winning author of some of the world's best-loved children's books. Her first picture book, A Squash and A Squeeze, was published over twenty years ago, and since then she has written over 160 books, including the modern classic The Gruffalo. Julia also writes fiction, poems, plays and songs - and her brilliant live shows are always in demand. She was the 2011-2013 UK Children's Laureate, has an MBE from the Queen and you can even find a painting of her in The National Portrait Gallery in London. Julia Donaldson divides her time between Scotland and West Sussex where she lives with her husband, Malcolm, who often joins her on stage for their sell-out singalong shows.  About the illustrator

Lydia MonksLydia Monks is one of the most original picture book artists working today. Her distinctive use of colour and collage has won her critical acclaim and several awards, including the Smarties Prize. As well as writing and illustrating her own picture books, Lydia has illustrated several books by former Children’s Laureate, Julia Donaldson. Their fourth book together, What the Ladybird Heard, won the Royal Mail Award for Scottish Children’s Books and was brought to the West End stage in 2013.
