How to be Blog of the Day
Make sure your posts are fresh
We want to feature timely posts that have been published in the past couple of days, tops. If something's hitting the headlines, we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for what our bloggers have got to say on it. We love reading your opinions on what's going on in the world, and we reckon our readers do too.
Make it eye-catching
We see hundreds of blogs every day - make sure yours stands out with a snappy headline and a strong image. Do try and stay away from click-bait though. Posts which don't live up to a headline's hype aren't what we're looking for.
Be original - and personal
Your stories and opinions are what makes your blog different and what makes it yours. Sharing your views and experiences will help you develop your own style and set your voice apart.
Spelling and punctuation matter
Really, they do. We want to share posts that other readers enjoy reading. Poor grammar and spelling mistakes put readers off, so do proofread and check your posts for errors before publishing them.
Keep it organic
We love seeing what exciting brand collaborations our bloggers have been working on, but unfortunately we can't feature sponsored content as our Blog of the Day. We currently work with brands to provide opportunities for our network, and sharing other collaborations would undermine that.
It's not an exact science
If there was one formula for getting your posts featured, the network would be a pretty boring place. We're always looking for a balance of posts, both between what we have as Blog of the Day and on the front page. What works one day may not be right for another - but if it's well written, carefully thought through, and your take on something that gets people talking - we'll look forward to seeing it.
Make sure we see it
We check the blog roll on site each day, but with more than 9,000 members in the network, sadly we can't read every post. The best way to make sure it's on our radar is to tweet it to @MumsnetBloggers using #BOTD - and make sure you're following us, of course.
