BREATH - yoga with Adrienne thread January 2020

Assuming no one has started a support thread already?

So I wanted to have a place to give and receive support! I do these every year and do YWA almost every day anyway and have done since 2015.
The Calendar showing length of each one is here

I'm really looking forward to it and did her 5 minutes intro today and then a 20 minute one from dedicate. As far as timings are concerned she posts at 12 noon Texas time which is 6pm in UK. But I find that first thing in the morning her email has the link which I click on and start and then it's lined up in my YouTube feed ahead of when it would actually drop onto YouTube. Because I do my yoga first thing in the morning.

Good luck everyone, hoping this year is a stonker at least for yoga!

Apologies, I see your link on that thread

It’s actually 12am Central she posts them so 6am UK time, not pm.

Me! This is my fifth or sixth year as well .

I have bookmarked tons of my favourites so after today's 5 minute intro will do one of those.

Hello @noodlezoodle! Am so looking forward to this so slightly nervous at the length of the first few as I have been unable to do any longer sessions much this year due to ill health but I am determined to do my best

It is a bit alarming, isn't it! I'm hoping at least half of it is either breathing or lying down Grin

I’m trying it out for the first time and did the intro today. Got a bit confused on YouTube so spent 20 minutes doing a different video and wondering why the intro was so long (!), so think @Sooverthemill ‘s tip re email link will come in handy!

So I did day 1! Was really anxious I wouldn't be able to do the whole 48 minutes as I've not done a full length session for months but it was fine. I really like the focus on the breath, am having a rough time with very poorly DD and this has made me stop and think about myself. Fabulous

@Aliensrus yes it's the best way ( for me) to make sure I get the right video lined up in my YouTube feed. Someone suggested it to me a few years back!

Day 1 ✅

This is not my first attempt at one of these 30 day challenges but I've never made it to the end before so hopefully I can see it through this time. Maybe posting here will give me some accountability.

I enjoyed today's session. It was long but lovely and gentle, just what I needed to ease me in. I think I will ache tomorrow though!

I have subscribed to Adriene's channel and turned on notifications so I wake up each morning with a notification for the right video on my phone.

Day one done. Found the backwards facing hands v difficult - pushed a bit too much on the right side, realised and twisted less on the left. Looking forward to tomorrow!

My 1st 30 Days with Adrienne - I started her at the beginning of lockdown. As others have said, 48 minutes is a bit of a chunk. I have to resist the urge to see how far I've got.
I never regret doing her session though.

Blimey, that started quietly and got hard quite fast! I liked it a lot too - I think the focus on moving with the breath makes a real difference and I'm looking forward to focusing on that.

Sorry things are so rough Soover, hope that Adriene brings you some space and peace.

Sugarsurfing I also really struggled with turning my hands round - not surprising as I work on a laptop all day but I hadn't realised it would be so difficult!

I found day 2 really hard. I completed it but noticed I kept looking at the clock. Not helped by a dreadful night I guess but I do like this focus on the breath

So much planking today! I was not ready for that. Enjoying it so far though

yes, so much planking. I also find forward fold quite hard to maintain. One of the problems of being overweight. Overall Day 2 was good though, with more going on than yesterday.

Day 2 ✅

I was not ready for all the planks! I couldn't manage them all but I did my best. Yoga is a journey, right? Today's session flew by compared to yesterday though.

What sort of yoga is it? I’m pretty much a beginner and not very fit. Could I manage it?

Enjoying this so far! I started her first 30 days of yoga in March as lockdown began and worked through all six chronologically finishing Home just after Christmas. Wasn't sure I'd be able to do it along with everyone in 30 days, but with Tier 4 and the gym being closed that helps!

Tougher Day 1 than I remember but I don't think a month of committed festive eating helped.

Yep definitely. She gives various versions of poses but her main instructions are more geared to beginners in these series.

It's not tricky at all though of course anything could be challenging. Basically vinyasas , I'm not an expert but I think probably hatha mainly. It's really not high level stuff but well taught

Loved day 3. Just so great for grounding me today. I love the Ujjayi breathing, I used to get really wound up by it but now I really enjoy the slowing down it makes me do.

Tough planks etc but it made me feel very strong! Hope everyone else got as much out of it as I did

Hi, am joining you !

Have done the 30 days most years but usually finish mid February.

This year I'm working from home and so in theory have no excuse NOT to do the videos every day.

I have been doing yoga pretty regularly this year but was surprised to find some of day 2 tough (the plank!).

Nice to have a bit of a challenge though.

Will check in later after day 3 - this week my 'real' yoga teacher is also doing live 30 min classes at 6.15am (!) so I've already done some yoga and meditation - feeling virtuous (but not productive, on mn when I should be working !).

Day 3 ✅

I'm really enjoying this so far but I'm really struggling to flow into the poses the way Adriene does. It's much more of a stop start process for me with lots of adjustments and modifications! I'm hoping that's something that will come with time though and at the moment I'm just concentrating on showing up and joining in each day. This thread is definitely helping 😊
